University of North America (UoNA), located in Fairfax, Virginia, extends an open hand to international students in the Washington DC area. The university is authorized to enroll non-immigrant F1 Visa students to pursue graduate and undergraduate programs in areas that are in high demand by students and employers. According to Dr. West, a distinction of UoNA is its tuition, which is one of the most affordable among other accredited higher education institutions in the Washington DC metropolitan area. In addition, UoNA offers flexible class schedules that include evening, weekend, and online options for working professionals who are concurrently balancing personal, work, and educational pursuits. The university faculty has both industry experience and exceptional academic credentials. Many of the faculty are employed in the disciplines they are teaching, which enables them to relate relevant theories to real-world practices. Student are able to get individualized attention in classes that mirror typical workplace environments.

Mr. Culver Fortna, International Student Office (ISO) Manager, in addition to assisting international students with obtaining a visa to study at UoNA, he supports all students with health, housing, insurance, guidance for English as a second language learners, and cultural integration with campus life at UoNA. International students have many opportunities through UoNA’s applied learning curriculum that includes Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT), which are concurrent employment experiences for eligible students and program graduates. In addition, UoNA offers scholarships for H1-B Visa holders and US military personnel.
Majority of UoNA programs are recognized as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degrees, which are in high demand by international students. Of its 300+ currently enrolled students, a majority are pursuing a master’s degree. Based on full-time, continuous enrollment, a student can complete their master’s degree within a year and a half, although many students take an approved quarter-off to explore opportunities while in the US and graduate within two years.
Each master’s program list below requires completion of a minimum of 54 quarter-hour credits or 12 courses, which consist of 2 common core courses (9 credits), 5 program core courses (22.5 credits), four elective courses (18 credits), and a capstone course (4.5 credits).

UoNA two bachelor’s degree programs require a minimum of 180 quarter-hour credits to graduate; full-time continuous enrollment enables students to complete the program in approximately 4 years.
Admission to UoNA begins with a simple process. Once an applicant completes an application form on the UoNA website (https://www.uona.edu), they will be contacted by an admission representative who, in coordination with academic and student services personnel, will assist them with the rest of the process.
Originally established by Jill and Claude Martin 10 years ago in Vienna, Virginia, the University of North America is accredited by ACICS, certified by the state of Virginia, and recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
