Singing at nursing homes is one of the many activities that can provide joy, peace, and healing to the residents.
Mr. Ebenezer Allotey a renowned choir director is spearheading an ambitious initiative to explore how music and singing can feature regularly in assisted living facilities within the Across the United States.
The Tema Choir formed in November 2019 under the direction of Ebenezer A. Allotey, is a diverse volunteer, non-auditioned choir with a mission to create community, foster unity and build a better world through music. Comprised of singers representing a wide range of age, religious beliefs, and cultural backgrounds, TC USA uses choral music as a vehicle for bringing communities together in order to promote and create social change. TC USA holds at least four performances a year to raise funds for those less privileged on both the local and national scale.
As part of the Christmas festivities, the choir visited a number of nursing homes to minister to senior adults.
On Saturday, December 28 the group had a mini Christmas concert at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center, Burke, Virginia. They ministered to senior adults who are often forgotten and brought joy to their faces. Their presence and song rekindled in them hope that they were not forgotten.
They also visited the Glens Assisted Living Center in Woodbridge Virginia as well and filled the atmosphere with soothing Christmas Carols that brought joy to the residents.
